The front kick is one of the basic kicks of Taekwondo but while considered a basic kick, it can also be classed as one of the most powerful kicks in Taekwondo if executed correctly.

The basic principles of performing a front kick are (from a front stance position):

  1. Step through with your back leg
  2. Lift your back leg knee up in front of you pointing it at the target whilst keeping your lower leg pointing down
  3. Extending your lower leg in an upwards direction whilst keeping your toes pulled back and striking with the ball of the foot
  4. Retracting your foot back in the reverse order as to how you executed the kick
