The front kick is one of the basic kicks of Taekwondo but while considered a basic kick, it can also be classed as one of the most powerful kicks in Taekwondo if executed correctly.
The basic principles of performing a front kick are (from a front stance position):
- Step through with your back leg
- Lift your back leg knee up in front of you pointing it at the target whilst keeping your lower leg pointing down
- Extending your lower leg in an upwards direction whilst keeping your toes pulled back and striking with the ball of the foot
- Retracting your foot back in the reverse order as to how you executed the kick
